The last weeks of summer are here, the holidays are coming to an end and the September rush of school is about to begin. 1.Pacha Lounge Chair / GUBI

Curvaceous, soft and low-slung, Pacha is a joyfully modernist creation, which embraces both extreme comfort and effortless versatility. Iconic designer Pierre Paulin’s vision was to create a sensation of ‘sitting on clouds’.

2. Mama Bear Chair / Carl Hansen & Søn

The chair known as the CH78 Lounge Chair or Mama Bear Chair was originally introduced in 1954. In contrast with its often-heavy contemporaries, Mama Bear’s sculptural silhouette is defined by a series of inviting curves that offer up a warm embrace. The frame, armrests and legs are crafted from solid FSC™-certified wood, with a headrest in leather or corresponding fabric completing the design.

3. CH7 / Carl Hansen & Søn

The CH07 Shell Chair was created in 1963, but the design was ahead of its time and, therefore, has patiently waited for the spotlight for a number of decades. Today, it is considered one of Hans J. Wegner’s most iconic and groundbreaking designs.

4. Little Petra / &tradition

Initially introduced in 1938, Little Petra became an instant favourite, winning an award at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition, subsequently taking home additional awards at exhibits in New York and Berlin. Little Petra is surprisingly petite, able to fit into any space, interior and environment.

5. Wingback / Tom Dixon

The Wingback was inspired by traditional 17th century archetypes, and was developed for the Shoreditch House Members Club. Its expressive sculptural shape allows designers to use it as a central piece in any space. The ‘wings’ provide convenient acoustic protection and serve as a comfortable headrest.

6. Lounge Chair / Vitra

A veritable classic by Charles and Ray Eames, combining the highest quality materials and craftsmanship with ultimate comfort. Designed in 1956, the Lounge Chair set new standards: not only was it lighter, more elegant and more modern than its contemporaries, it was also more comfortable. Thanks to these qualities, it has remained one of the most iconic designs of the designer duo to this day.

7. MR01 Initial Chair / GUBI

Mathias Steen Rasmussen originally designed the piece for his own home, as a lounge chair he could also use for meditation. The designer unites traditional woodworking craftsmanship with original ideas in a simple form that is at once familiar and yet strikingly modern.

8. CH25 / Carl Hansen & Søn

The CH25 is one of the first four chair designs that Hans J. Wegner created for Carl Hansen & Søn at the beginning of a collaboration that started back in 1949. The chair, considered revolutionary at the time, was put into production in 1950, and is now updated for the 21st century by acclaimed designer Ilse Crawford.

9. Lounge Chair Wood / Vitra

The small Lounge Chair Wood is an iconic design by Charles and Ray Eames – one of the first pieces from early experiments with three-dimensionally moulded plywood. Pieces of the Plywood Group family softly conform to the contours of the human body, and have matured into veritable classics thanks to their timeless appearance and organic shape.

10. Egg / Fritz Hansen

The Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen is masterpiece of Danish design. Jacobsen found the perfect shape for the chair by experimenting with wire and plaster in his garage. Today, the Egg chair is recognised worldwide as one of the triumphs of Jacobsen’s legendary career and a Scandinavian design icon.

11. Bernard / Hay

Shane Schneck set out to create a new and affordable design classic with a modern appeal to last future generations. This is how the Bernard was born, placing the easy-chair genre within a contemporary context. The combination of a solid-wood frame with a visually light cover results in a comfortable and durable chair with a distinctive design language.

12. Knitting Lounge Chair / Menu

The Knitting Chair by Ib Kofod-Larsen was first launched as a limited edition in 1951, is today again available under MENU’s concept of “Modernism Reimagined”. The chair’s sense of proportion and unparalleled quality makes it a natural choice for contemporary interiors. The playful nature of the Knitting Chair serves to highlight its thoughtful design.

13. Baixa / Soft Line

The Baixa is a comfortable lounge chair with a unique design that captures the past as well as the future. The lumbar support turns into the armrest in a flowing, harmonious movement with soft and round lines like the upper part of the backrest, forming a silhouette that resembles a sunset in soft sand dunes, hence the name of the chair.

14. Bat Lounge Chair / GUBI

The Bat Lounge Chair – designed by design duo GamFratesi – carries strong references to bats, with its inviting, distinctive shell reminiscent of the shape of a bat’s wingspan. Balancing between the traditional and surprising, the Bat Lounge Chair represents a Scandinavian approach to crafts, simplicity and functionalism.

15. Grand Repos & Ottoman / Vitra

The Grand Repos chair by Antonio Citterio offers exceptional comfort, particularly when paired with the Ottoman. The synchronised mechanism concealed beneath the upholstery supports the user at every angle of inclination and can be locked in any position. Once the user is comfortably reclined, the Ottoman provides a soft foot rest for ultimate relaxation.
