After two years of reconstruction works, the old Manfréd Weiss mansion at 116 Andrássy Street has finally reopened as the Alice Hotel.
The mansion, complete with 41 rooms, was built in the 1870s. Designed by Mór Kallina, the mansion was bought in 1894 by Count Manfréd Weiss and his wife, Alice Weiss – whom the building was recently renamed after. For BDPST Group, the primary goal of reconstruction works was the creation of new value. In the two years of the project, the building was dismantled right down to its architectural core, with salvaging and refurbishing the original facade and other elements, such as the wooden spiral staircase on the ground floor. State-of-the-art machinery, the ventilation system and service units were placed in the loft and basement, the latter being where the breakfast area is also located, mirroring the classical architecture of the original building.
It’s quite easy to re-align beds, and as some rooms are connected, they can be opened up to make a larger space. The historic wing of the building will finally open to public and hotel guests, as a seasonal café now welcomes visitors in the garden, next to Andrássy Street.
Besides lighting design, Solinfo Group was also trusted with the complete management of the reconstruction project, as well as the procurement of all interior accessories. The selection and delivery of all lamps, flooring solutions, sanitary ware and furniture posed a great challenge, but Solinfo is proud of the end result.
