The reconstruction works on the old apartment block at 20 Kálmán Imre Street have come to an end – uniting old and new design solutions in the heart of Lipótváros, Budapest. Behind the perfectly renovated facade a contemporary interior adn a modern roof structure awaits visitors.
The original building was constructed in 1895, based on the plans by István Paulheim and under the helm of János Hudetz. The neo-renaissance building went through renovation works in the past, but the first phase of the complete reconstruction of the building was seen through by PADS in 2015-16, led by Géza Kendik from A4 Stúdió. The renovation of the facade demanded special care, including thorough preparation, research and planning – documentation on the value protection of the beautiful facade was done by Attila Déry. 2019 saw the continuation of the reconstruction process, where the building was finally transitioned to be an office building, commissioned by Optimum Kappa Kft. The concept of Bolla and Gregersen architect studio was to incorporate the classic facade and its values into the contemporary design.
Downlights installed between ceiling lamellae take care of illuminating the interiors. A glass-covered lounge opens from the first floor, providing great space for workers in the building to relax, as well as serving as an event hall. Solinfo Group/Lighting Embassy is proud to have contributed to the reconstruction of this beautiful building with its pioneering work in designing lighting systems. Our outdoor and indoor lights, design lamps and furniture pieces contributed to the lounge and the visual atmosphere of the building on the whole.
