This 450 m² family house is located near Budapest. From a distance, the house appears to float in space, with only a few columns on the upper floor, which is narrowly extended and opened up by deep terraces, while the ground floor is a walk-through open space. However, on a closer look, it is an optical illusion: the huge glass doors on the ground floor are deceptive, offering a view of the garden on the other side.
The architect’s concept in designing the building was to live with nature, in this case, the forest surrounding the site, and to remove the physical boundaries between the building and its environment. He was looking for a fitting building, taking absolute advantage but not exploiting nature’s resources, the house was built with energy and eco-consciousness in mind. The garden itself is not conventional but rather resembles a grove, with large grassy clearings between the trees that seem to be a continuation of the neighbouring forest. Here, nature has indeed ‘planted’ much of the greenery, a fact that was treated with the utmost respect by both the client and the architect in the design of the house.
Solinfo Group supplied technical and design lighting and furniture for the project.
