Project description

A mobile auditorium and a giant steel egg are all part of the new innovative building of the Economic Sciences campus of John von Neumann University in Kecskemét. The first phase of the project was completed with a budget of 13,4 billion Hungarian Forints. It consisted of the bulding of a large auditorium – with a capacity of 300 people – and two smaller auditoriums with 80 and 120 seats, respectively. The smaller auditoiums have built-in stage mechanics, meaning that they can be turned so that the three auditoriums are joined, resulting in a space with a capacity of 500 people. The main hall features a steel frame structure in the shape of an egg, with a height of 13 meters and a weight of 80 tons. The first phase saw the arrival of a new building for the Economic Studies campus, and the upcoming second phase will feature the construction of an administrative building, a library, a multi-functional building, two dormitories, an observational tower and an overground corridor connecting all new buildings.
