Everyone knows this building, while only a few know what might be behind the fort and red-brick walls. The sight is the work of the architect planning the reconstruction, Tihamár Szalay, who has been a follower of Gyula Sándy for several decades. The palace, originally designed in 1924, was built for the board building of the Royal Hungarian Post Office. The asset manager of the central bank foundations purchased the building in 2016 and began its modern renovation. The Pallas Athene Foundation also set the goal of a complete reconstruction of the historic building on the eve of the former Post Palace. Rebirth on 18,500 square feet. In the seven-story office building, the Money Museum and visitor center are located in the lower half of the north wing. The tower, which is one of the symbols of the house, will be open to the public, working as a viewpoint, and a glass elevator will take visitors up. The most spectacular spaces of the renovation are still new, e.g. the foyer and the covered courtyard became a hall. The former giant chimney has disappeared, but at the same time it has been covered by a glass roof on a golden metal beam in the middle, so that not only natural light can come in at the edges, but also the interior image can prevail. The color gold is repeated several times, as the corporate color of the Hungarian National Bank is gold, white and blue.
The former Post Palace will open its doors this spring. The refurbishment work is already complete, with the active involvement of the Solinfo Group / Lighting Embassy lighting design team. We worked on the lighting design of the interior of the building, the rooms, the meeting rooms, the executive offices, priority areas, the restaurant, and the corridors. We also selected the luminaires and design lamps to ensure a striking appearance in the interior of the building.
We are proud that Solinfo took part in the renovation process.
