Stand25 is the bistro-style restaurant of Tamás Széll, Szabina Szulló, Zoltán Hamvas and Ibolya Csahók. Previously located at the Hold Street Market, it now moved to the Buda side of the capital. Stand25 is a restaurant with a precious history. A few months into its first year it was awarded the Bib Gourmand recognition by the Michelin Guide. The signature neon lights, the iconic dishes and the comic book art depicting the unforgettable moments of Tamás Széll at Bocuse are all part of the Stand25 image. The restaurant had to move to a new place that can house the whole identity of the brand.
The brand new building, located at Attila Street, has been the home for another restaurant before. Dóra Fónagy, designer of the new Stand25 interior had to take the pre-existing qualities of this space into consideration. „The interior space is very exciting from a professional point of view. It reminded me of a time in the capital when cafés and bars at the ground floor of residential buildings always became social hubs. It’s a challenge to take that sort of history and adapt it to the needs of modern design strategies. The interior was designed so that guests feel close to each work area – including the kitchen and the bar. The huge ceiling heigh made it possible to install a gallery.” – explains Dóra. Her work resulted in a welcoming, homely interior. It was another challenge for interior decorators and designers to include a number of innovative, contemporary design solutions in this historic space. Dóra Fónagy was delighted to work with architect and designer Leon Saven.
Lighting designers of Solinfo found it an interesting challenge to introduce modern lighting solutions into an older architectural space. Our industrial lights were the perfect fit for the retro flooring patterns, and the overall retro atmosphere of the interior. We are proud to have contributed to a charming, comfortable and warm, yet elegant space.
