This apartment in Budapest’s 11th district is defined by a light, neutral colour palette that creates a calm and timeless atmosphere for everyday living. At the client’s request, the space is dominated by beige and taupe tones, with a design that is understated, refined, and thoughtfully composed.
Designer András Mészáros aimed to keep the interior visually engaging despite its restrained tones. This was achieved through layered textures, natural materials, and subtle black accents. For the designer, the kitchen and bathrooms were the most rewarding areas to work on—spaces where material quality and fine details are especially prominent, resulting in a home that is both elegant and enduring.
The kitchen and dining area form the heart of the home. The Veneta Cucine 891 Canneté Noce Chiaro veneered, ribbed cabinet fronts bring warmth and texture, while the 687 Argento Metallo Liquido painted MDF upper and tall units add a modern, lasting contrast. The extractor hood is finished in Kerakoll WR02, matching the wall colour to create a unified look in the kitchen. This same tone appears on the bathroom walls as well, contributing to a consistent, cohesive atmosphere throughout the entire apartment.
Lighting was selected to balance striking forms with the neutral tones of the interior. In the kitchen, the Vibia Knit pendant brings a sense of warmth and comfort, while in the living room, the Flos Skynest fixture—with its unique pattern—becomes a focal point of the space.
The entire interior is characterised by refined materials and a thoughtful attention to detail—resulting in a minimalist yet captivating home that remains inspiring over time.
