Since its foundation 60 years ago, Roche Bobois has been crafting functional yet beautiful furniture, which undeniably reflect both the ‘French touch’ and the ‘Arte de Vivre’ atmosphere. The furniture is made exclusively in Europe, keeping sustainability in mind at all times.
GABRIELLA BAKONYI is the brand manager for the Budapest store. She has worked with the French premium brand in the past, and was excited to be involved in the process of introducing Roche Bobois to the Hungarian market. She and her team has visited the company’s HQ in Paris on multiple occasions, but also felt it important to also visit Roche Bobois stores in other cities.
How will the range at the Budapest store differ from other Roche Bobois stores across the world?
Each and every store is different, making a comparison near impossible, but the commonly represented values establish a strong bond regardless of location. We will, of course, have the bestsellers and iconic pieces on offer that make the brand instantly recognisable, but will also strive to shape our supply in line with local needs and current trends.
What makes the Budapest showroom unique?
Several things in fact. Firstly, the location and the building housing the store. We are located in downtown Budapest, in the direct vicinity of buildings with a rich historical past. The showroom is housed in a listed monument building, establishing a wholly unique atmosphere. At 1,000 m2, it is also special in terms of size. This space has allowed us to use one-of-a-kind interior design solutions. A simple visit to the store itself provides visitors or buyers with an immensely pleasurable experience.
How permanent is the Roche Bobois range?
There are enduring pieces and product families, but the brand also rolls out new collections every six months. Collections of collaborations with renowned designers are highly popular. Marcel Wanders, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jean Nouvel, Kenzo Takada, Missoni, Maison Lacroix – these legendary designers have created timeless furniture, with eternal style traits. The Roche Bobois collection embodies two very different worlds that manage to still complement one another: The Les Contemporains collection reflects current trends and contemporary creativity, while the New Classics collection baldly serves up traditional furniture adapted to current styles.
