In the 40 years since its launch, Euroluce, Europe’s largest lighting exhibition (held every two years since 1976, concurrently with the Salone del Mobile exhibition in Milan), has grown into a veritable must-attend event for industry players. The exhibition is, of course, visited by the Solinfo team each year, on a mission to seek out the latest trends and innovations. In our latest blog post, we report on new products from five outstanding manufacturers, ranging from technical lighting all the way to state-of-the-art design lamps.
FLOS
The latest collection from FLOS, renowned for its minimalistic and puritan solutions, puts emphasis on groundbreaking design and ambitious collaborations. The Italian manufacturer’s range sees products added in 2019 such as the customisable Haeru – the lovechild of a three-legged supporting table and a floorlamp – made in collaboration with Japanese design studio Nendo, the Caule, a flexible, arched outdoor lamp designed by Patricia Urquiola, or the WireLine series dreamt up by designer duo Formafantasma which lends a unique visual and tactile dimension to the company’s modern LED lamps. The brand has also continued its wildly successful collaboration with British designer Michael Anastassiades, resulting in the ethereal suspended Coordinates lighting system.
Bocci
As in previous years, Canadian-based Bocci has again showcased new lighting products. Among the innovations of the numbered collection is the lamp labelled 74, which re-imagines the classic LED spotlighting system with the high-standard glassworking the brand is known for. Popular and well-known classics like the 28, the 57 or the 73 have been given new colours and surfaces, continuing to expand the company’s already extensive product range.
Bomma
Speaking of high-quality glasswork, one cannot just disregard the new products on display by Bomma. The Czech firm, founded in 2012, combines traditional glass-blowing techniques with state-of-the-art production, creating breathtaking borosilicate luminaires. The newest pieces of this year’s collection include the LENS and PENDULUM lamps made in collaboration with Studio deFORM, the Blimp family designed by BIG-GAME and the playful PEBBLES straight from the workshop of Boris Klimek.
Moooi
Year after year, Netherlands-based Moooi enchants both visitors and exhibitors of the Milan fair with unique installations and characteristic products. This was no different this year, and it was under truly breathtaking circumstances that the brand showcased its new 2019 designs: the playful, illustrated faces of the Party wall lamps as designed by Kranen/Gille, as well as a smaller version of the ever so popular Meshmatic chandelier.
Penta Lighting
Since its last appearance at 2017’s Euroluce, Italy’s Penta has undergone major changes. The 2019 collections were rolled out under the Penta Group umbrella brand, which collects the decorative, architectural and custom lamps of the Group – handled separately until now – under a single brand name. Of the countless new designs on display, special mention is merited for the modular Tile series, which takes on varied shapes through a combination of lighting and acoustic elements, or the Carlo Colombo-designed Morsetto family, whose special geometric forms set it apart from functional lamps.
