Française Institute Auditorium Revitalized – Wireless, 21st-Century Smart Lighting

Modernizing the lighting in the Française Institute auditorium presented a unique technical challenge: the existing structure could not be altered, and installing new control wiring was not an option. At the same time, a versatile, fully controllable lighting system was required—one that could adapt seamlessly to different events and projection settings.

Solinfo Technology, a division of the Solinfo Group, developed the new system based on the DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) protocol, enabling individual control of each fixture, precise brightness adjustment, and the creation of lighting zones. Because new wiring could not be installed, the solution relied on Lunatone’s wireless technology.

DALI control signals are transmitted via Bluetooth over the existing three-phase lighting tracks. A key component of the system is a custom “dummy fixture” developed by Solinfo, which houses the Lunatone Wireless Bridge, ensuring stable, cable-free operation.

“The greatest challenge was to deliver a fully functional, professional lighting control system without touching the existing infrastructure. Using the wireless DALI system, we were able to create a flexible solution that is not only scalable but also sets a new standard in both technology and user experience,” said Dávid Bodrogi, Head of Solinfo Technology.

At the client’s request, a custom control interface was also developed. Built on the Lunatone Node-Red Server, it evokes the look of a classic slider-based lighting console while providing modern, browser-based control accessible via smartphone, tablet, and a dedicated touch panel.

The result is an intelligent, elegant, and fully expandable lighting control system that delivers modern functionality while leaving the existing infrastructure completely untouched.
