Behind The Styling-Timeless elegance in a downtown apartment.

Behind The Styling-Timeless elegance in a downtown apartment.

In our latest post, we showcase a unique downtown apartment through the eyes of our home stylists. Fanni Bodrogi and Fanni Gergics-Boar share what inspired the interior design, how they selected the products used, and what truly makes a space feel like home.

What were the main considerations when selecting the accessories and furniture? How do they complement the mood of the interior?
Fanni Bodrogi and Fanni Gergics-Boar:
It's always exciting to be part of a project where the interior designer—in this case, Kata Sütő—has already created a stunning space, and our task is simply to add the finishing touches. The main consideration was to match the monochrome color palette, the elegant surfaces, and the high-quality craftsmanship. That’s why we confidently used black-and-white accessories and items made from natural stone.

How did you manage to create harmony between the timeless style requested by the client, the modern elements, and the character of the building from 1938?
Fanni Gergics-Boar and Fanni Bodrogi: The historical value of the building was already taken into account by Kata Sütő during the design process, so we aligned our choices with this concept. We primarily used clean, geometric-shaped, monochrome, and contrasting accessories that complemented both the character of the building and the client’s desire for a timeless style.

G.B and G.B.F: Was there a specific product or piece of furniture that played a particularly defining role in the interiors?
In a monochromatic space, subtle contrast can be achieved by varying the textures of objects in the same color. For example, a high-gloss beige tabletop and a structured limestone bowl by&tradition form a harmonious unity while bringing a gentle sense of playfulness into the space.

G.B and G.B.F: Did you have a favorite part during the styling process? Why was it your favorite?
The entrance area was particularly exciting, where the bold houndstooth flooring and the interplay of reflective surfaces created a daring character. In the bedroom, the centrally placed petrol blue bed became the focal point, truly brought to life by a unique cushion from Roche Bobois. We also combined a velvet bedspread with a linen bed throw to create a contrasting yet harmonious play of textures.

G.B and G.B.F: In your view, what makes a space truly feel like home, and how did you achieve this in this apartment?
A space truly feels like home when it is filled with the right amount of accessories that complement the rest of the interior. The varied textures of the textiles, carefully chosen patterns, and a harmonious color palette are key—just like the presence of plants, whether cut flowers or potted greenery. These small details were all incorporated here as well, resulting in a perfectly homey and welcoming atmosphere.
